Hazel's Crockpot Thursdays

With Halloween and Autumn in the air, I thought I would post some recipes for the season...

Crockpot Caramel Apples

2 packs (14 oz) bags caramels
1/4 cup water
8 med apples

In crock, combine caramels & water. Cover & cook on high for 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Stirring frequently. Wash and dry apples. Insert stick into stem end of apple. Turn control on low. Dip apple into hot caramel & turn to coat entire apple. Holding apple above crock, scrape off excess.

Placed on greased wax paper to cool...Enjoy!


Pumpkin Pie Dip

--1 cup canned pumpkin pie mix
--4 oz cream cheese
--1/4 cup sour cream
--chopped walnuts, optional

This recipe is perfect for a little crockpot. If you don't have one, you can put a small oven-safe dish inside of your large crockpot.

Add the cream cheese to crockpot. Top with sour cream, then pour in the pumpkin pie filling. Cover and cook for about an hour, then stir well. If the cream cheese isn't fully melted, cook a bit longer. The small crocks don't have temperature settings, you just plug it in.

If you are going to use a big crockpot with an oven-safe dish inside, cook on high for about an hour, or 2 on low.

Garnish with chopped walnuts, if desired.

Serve with pretzels, gingersnaps and/or apples
